Whatever has happened was foreordained, ¹  and what happens to a person ²  was also foreknown. It is useless for him to argue with God about his fate because God is more powerful than he is. ³ 

I have seen their behavior, ¹  but I will heal them and give them rest, and I will once again console those who mourn. ² 

“Because of this, the Lord God of Israel who rules over all says, ‘I am determined to bring disaster on you, ¹  even to the point of destroying all the Judeans here. ²

Simon answered, ¹  “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt canceled.” ²  Jesus ³  said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

So ¹  he sent another slave. They beat this one too, treated him outrageously, and sent him away empty-handed. ²

When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made ¹  an attempt to mistreat ²  them and stone them, ³ 

but Paul insisted ¹  that they should not take along this one who had left them in Pamphylia ²  and had not accompanied them in the work.

After Paul ¹  saw the vision, we attempted ²  immediately to go over to Macedonia, ³  concluding that God had called ⁴  us to proclaim the good news to them.

For Macedonia and Achaia are pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints in Jerusalem.

For even though I am absent physically, ¹  I am present in spirit. And I have already judged the one who did this, just as though I were present. ² 

turn this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved ¹  in the day of the Lord. ² 

In Christ ¹  we too have been claimed as God’s own possession, ²  since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will
