When Rachel saw that she could not give Jacob children, she ¹  became jealous of her sister. She said to Jacob, “Give me children ²  or I’ll die!”

The sons of Ezrah: Jether, Mered, Epher, and Jalon. Mered’s wife Bithiah ¹  gave birth to Miriam, Shammai, and Ishbah, the father of Eshtemoa.

And Adam had marital relations ¹  with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son. She named him Seth, saying, “God has given ²  me another child ³  in place of Abel because Cain killed him.”

After some time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, thinking, “I asked the Lord for him. ¹ 

So David comforted his wife Bathsheba. He went to her and had marital relations with her. ¹  She gave birth to a son, and David ²  named him Solomon. Now the Lord loved the child ³

She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the Lord ¹  said to him, “Name her ‘No Pity’ (Lo-Ruhamah) because I will no longer have pity ²  on the nation ³  of Israel. For ⁴  I will certainly not forgive ⁵  their guilt. ⁶ 

Now Dinah, Leah’s daughter whom she bore to Jacob, went to meet ¹  the young women ²  of the land.

From Judah came 6,800 trained warriors carrying shields and spears. ¹
