So too a Levite, when he came up to ¹  the place and saw him, ²  passed by on the other side.

because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, ¹  and I have nothing to set before ²  him.’

This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

At that very moment, ¹  three men sent to me from Caesarea ²  approached ³  the house where we were staying. ⁴ 

On the next Sabbath almost the whole city assembled together to hear the word of the Lord. ¹ 

Simeon ¹  has explained ²  how God first concerned himself ³  to select ⁴  from among the Gentiles ⁵  a people for his name.

But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Husbands, love your ¹  wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her

Then the man ¹  searched. He began with the oldest and finished with the youngest. The cup was found in Benjamin’s sack!

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all the gods, for in the thing in which they dealt proudly against them he has destroyed them.” ¹ 

So Moses brought out all the staffs from before the Lord to all the Israelites. They looked at them, ¹  and each man took his staff.

You have been taught that the Lord alone is God – there is no other besides him.

Just when he had finished offering the burnt offering, Samuel appeared on the scene. Saul went out to meet him and to greet him. ¹ 

Solomon demonstrated his loyalty to the Lord by following ¹  the practices ²  of his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.

Jeroboam and all the people reported ¹  to Rehoboam on the third day, just as the king had ordered when he said, “Return to me on the third day.”

Elisha said to him, “Go and tell him, ‘You will surely recover,’ ¹  but the Lord has revealed to me that he will surely die.”
