“It is not right ¹  to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs,” ²  he said. ³ 

He ¹  said to them, “Not everyone can accept this statement, except those to whom it has been given.

They ¹  became greatly distressed ²  and each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?”

He is not here, for he has been raised, ¹  just as he said. Come and see the place where he ²  was lying.

They were distressed, and one by one said to him, “Surely not I?”

so ¹  he thought to himself, ²  ‘What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ ³ 

Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, ¹  for all live before him.” ² 

He is not here, but has been raised! ¹  Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, ² 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Woman, ²  why are you saying this to me? ³  My time ⁴  has not yet come.”

So Jesus replied, ¹  “My time ²  has not yet arrived, ³  but you are ready at any opportunity! ⁴ 

The voice ¹  spoke to him again, a second time, “What God has made clean, you must not consider ²  ritually unclean!” ³ 

But the voice replied a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, you must not consider ¹  ritually unclean!’

Now we know that God’s judgment is in accordance with truth ¹  against those who practice such things.

For just as it is written, “the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” ¹ 

Or is God the God of the Jews only? Is he not the God of the Gentiles too? Yes, of the Gentiles too!

Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Instead, keeping God’s commandments is what counts.

If you sin against your brothers or sisters ¹  in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

Am I saying these things only on the basis of common sense, ¹  or does the law not say this as well?

Does not nature ¹  itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace for him,
