A great number of sick, blind, lame, and paralyzed people were lying in these walkways. ¹ 

When they heard these words, some of the crowd ¹  began to say, “This really ²  is the Prophet!” ³ 

We know our noisy worship of false gods on the hills and mountains did not help us. ¹  We know that the Lord our God is the only one who can deliver Israel. ² 

When Jonah began to enter the city one day’s walk, he announced, “At the end of forty days, ¹  Nineveh will be overthrown!” ² 

The ¹  crowd scolded ²  them to get them to be quiet. But they shouted even more loudly, “Lord, have mercy on us, ³  Son of David!”

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus ¹  Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?” ² 

So ¹  after leaving the crowd, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat, ²  and other boats were with him.

Both those who went ahead and those who followed kept shouting, “Hosanna! ¹  Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! ² 

Then ¹  he ²  sat down opposite the offering box, ³  and watched the crowd putting coins into it. Many rich people were throwing in large amounts.

Now ¹  Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, ²  and the crowd was pressing around him ³  to hear the word of God.

“Woe to you ¹  when all people ²  speak well of you, for their ancestors ³  did the same things to the false prophets.

And those who were in front ¹  scolded ²  him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted ³  even more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

He ¹  was trying to get a look at Jesus, ²  but being a short man he could not see over the crowd. ³ 

And when the people ¹  saw it, they all complained, ²  “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ³ 

Yet many of the crowd ¹  believed in him and said, “Whenever the Christ ²  comes, he won’t perform more miraculous signs than this man did, will he?” ³ 

The Pharisees ¹  heard the crowd ²  murmuring these things about Jesus, ³  so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers ⁴  to arrest him. ⁵ 

Early in the morning he came to the temple courts again. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach ¹  them.

Now the Jewish feast of Passover ¹  was near, and many people went up to Jerusalem ²  from the rural areas before the Passover to cleanse themselves ritually. ³ 

But Jesus shouted out, ¹  “The one who believes in me does not believe in me, but in the one who sent me, ² 

They incited the people, the ¹  elders, and the experts in the law; ²  then they approached Stephen, ³  seized him, and brought him before the council. ⁴
