(for I have five brothers) to warn ¹  them so that they don’t come ²  into this place of torment.’

You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ ¹  but rather, ‘I have been sent before him.’

Demetrius ¹  has been testified to by all, even by the truth itself. We also testify to him, ²  and you know that our testimony is true.

Violent men perjure themselves, ¹  and falsely accuse me. ² 

¹ Appoint an evil man to testify against him! ²  May an accuser stand ³  at his right side!

A lying witness ¹  will perish, ²  but the one who reports accurately speaks forever. ³ 

But they did not find anything, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally ¹  two came forward

Some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: ¹ 

Then Pilate said, ¹  “So you are a king!” Jesus replied, “You say that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world – to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to ²  my voice.”

“Whoever kills any person, the murderer must be put to death by the testimony ¹  of witnesses; but one witness cannot ²  testify against any person to cause him to be put to death.

he said to them, “Keep in mind all the words I am solemnly proclaiming to you today; you must command your children to observe carefully all the words of this law.

So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord ¹  or of me, a prisoner for his sake, but by ²  God’s power accept your share of suffering ³  for the gospel.

Through Silvanus, ¹  whom I know to be a faithful brother, ²  I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testify ³  that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. ⁴ 

I said, ¹  ‘Listen, my people! I will warn ²  you! O Israel, if only you would obey me! ³ 

Then I will summon ¹  as my reliable witnesses Uriah the priest and Zechariah son of Jeberekiah.”

Look, I made him a witness to nations, ¹  a ruler and commander of nations.”

So Pilate asked him again, ¹  “Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!”

So the Pharisees ¹  objected, ²  “You testify about yourself; your testimony is not true!” ³ 

With many other words he testified ¹  and exhorted them saying, “Save yourselves from this perverse ²  generation!”

For God is my witness that I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
