They will all be left ¹  for the birds of the hills and the wild animals; ²  the birds will eat them during the summer, and all the wild animals will eat them during the winter.

It is to be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must humble yourselves. ¹  It is a perpetual statute. ² 

Indeed, ¹  any person who does not behave with humility on this particular day will be cut off from his people. ²

There is desirable treasure and olive oil ¹  in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish person ²  devours all he has. ³ 

All of man’s labor is for nothing more than ¹  to fill his stomach ²  – yet his appetite ³  is never satisfied!

For seven months Israel ¹  will bury them, in order to cleanse the land.

Who has the king of Israel come out after? Who is it that you are pursuing? A dead dog? A single flea?

Then David prayed to ¹  God for the child and fasted. ²  He would even ³  go and spend the night lying on the ground.
