So God treated the midwives well, ¹  and the people multiplied and became very strong.

Little by little ¹  I will drive them out before you, until you become fruitful and inherit the land.

All of these cities were fortified by high walls, gates, and locking bars; ¹  in addition there were a great many open villages. ² 

He had many supplies stored in the cities of Judah and an army of skilled warriors stationed in Jerusalem. ¹ 

You will also know that your children ¹  will be numerous, and your descendants ²  like the grass of the earth.

I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past. ¹ 

He rained down meat on them like dust, birds as numerous as the sand on the seashores. ¹ 

He blessed ¹  them so that they became very numerous. He would not allow their cattle to decrease in number. ²

Increase ¹  your merchants more than the stars of heaven! They are like ²  the young locust which sheds ³  its skin and flies away.

Many ¹  women who had followed Jesus from Galilee and given him support ²  were also there, watching from a distance.

And the others ¹  who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them ²  from continuing in office, ³ 

When the Lord your God brings you to the land that you are going to occupy and forces out many nations before you – Hittites, ¹  Girgashites, ²  Amorites, ³  Canaanites, ⁴  Perizzites, ⁵  Hivites, ⁶  and Jebusites, ⁷  seven ⁸  nations more numerous and powerful than you –

O Lord, my God, you have accomplished many things; you have done amazing things and carried out your purposes for us. ¹  No one can thwart you! ²  I want to declare them and talk about them, but they are too numerous to recount! ³ 

May the sovereign God ¹  bless you! May he make you fruitful and give you a multitude of descendants! ²  Then you will become ³  a large nation. ⁴ 

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they owned land there. They were fruitful and increased rapidly in number.

The Israelites, ¹  however, ²  were fruitful, increased greatly, multiplied, and became extremely strong, ³  so that the land was filled with them.
