I am so starved my knees shake; ¹  I have turned into skin and bones. ² 

You who are naive, discern ¹  wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment! ² 

He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.

adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

Or do only Barnabas and I lack the right not to work?

instead in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and poverty ¹  you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you. They ²  will place an iron yoke on your neck until they have destroyed you.

Then I will allow your dynasty to rule over Israel permanently, ¹  just as I promised your father David, ‘You will not fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’ ² 

But if they refuse to listen, they pass over the river of death, ¹  and expire without knowledge.

Does the one who disciplines the nations not punish? He is the one who imparts knowledge to human beings!

When there is no guidance ¹  a nation falls, but there is success ²  in the abundance of counselors.

There is abundant food in the field ¹  of the poor, but it is swept away by injustice. ² 

If you do not have enough to pay, your bed ¹  will be taken ²  right out from under you! ³ 

Surely ¹  I am more brutish ²  than any other human being, ³  and I do not have human understanding; ⁴ 

A wise person’s good sense protects him, ¹  but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable. ² 

Look, all of them are nothing, ¹  their accomplishments are nonexistent; their metal images lack any real substance. ² 

But they were filled with mindless rage ¹  and began debating with one another what they would do ²  to Jesus.

Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered disgraces his head.

and will secretly eat her afterbirth ¹  and her newborn children ²  (since she has nothing else), ³  because of the severity of the siege by which your enemy will constrict you in your villages.

and the Lord will fulfill his promise to me, ¹  ‘If your descendants watch their step ²  and live faithfully in my presence ³  with all their heart and being, ⁴  then,’ he promised, ⁵  ‘you will not fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’ ⁶ 

So Israel’s sons came to buy grain among the other travelers, ¹  for the famine was severe in the land of Canaan.
