If a man marries a woman and she does not please him because he has found something offensive ¹  in her, then he may draw up a divorce document, give it to her, and evict her from his house.

My father may touch me! Then he’ll think I’m mocking him ¹  and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.”

But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, ¹  for he said, ²  “What if some accident ³  happens ⁴  to him?”

Suppose a man comes across a virgin who is not engaged and overpowers and rapes ¹  her and they are discovered.

Look, I will be waiting at the fords of the desert until word from you ¹  reaches me.”

Micaiah said, “If you really do safely return, then the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added, “Take note, ¹  all you people.”

Micaiah said, “If you really do return safely, then the Lord has not spoken through me!” Then he added, “Take note, ¹  all you people.”

“Look, here is the man who would not make ¹  God his protector! He trusted in his great wealth and was confident about his plans to destroy others.” ² 

Why do you say, Jacob, Why do you say, Israel, “The Lord is not aware of what is happening to me, ¹  My God is not concerned with my vindication”? ² 

Look, my earlier predictive oracles have come to pass; ¹  now I announce new events. Before they begin to occur, I reveal them to you.” ² 

At that time I will be the God of all the clans of Israel ¹  and they will be my people. I, the Lord, affirm it!” ² 

But I will rescue you when it happens. ¹  I, the Lord, affirm it! ²  You will not be handed over to those whom you fear. ³ 

“Son of man, of all the woody branches among the trees of the forest, what happens to the wood of the vine? ¹ 

When all this comes true – and it certainly will ¹  – then they will know that a prophet was among them.”

Then you will know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves and raise you from your graves, my people.

Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way.

Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? ¹  Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. ² 

He goes to sleep and gets up, night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
