The whole allotment will be eight and a quarter miles ¹  square, you must set apart the holy allotment with the possession of the city.

Then the king elevated Daniel to high position and bestowed on him many marvelous gifts. He granted him authority over the entire province of Babylon and made him the main prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.

Now this Daniel was distinguishing himself above the other supervisors and the satraps, for he had an extraordinary spirit. In fact, the king intended to appoint him over the entire kingdom.

This is what the Lord says: “Because Gaza ¹  has committed three crimes ²  – make that four! ³  – I will not revoke my decree of judgment. ⁴  They deported a whole community ⁵  and sold them ⁶  to Edom.

Listen, you Israelites, to this message which the Lord is proclaiming against ¹  you! This message is for the entire clan I brought up ²  from the land of Egypt:

The waters completely inundated ¹  the earth so that even ²  all the high mountains under the entire sky were covered.

So he overthrew those cities and all that region, ¹  including all the inhabitants of the cities and the vegetation that grew ²  from the ground.

Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole community ¹  of the Israelites, ‘Come ²  before the Lord, because he has heard your murmurings.’”

Then he is to have the house scraped ¹  all around on the inside, ²  and the plaster ³  which is scraped off ⁴  must be dumped outside the city ⁵  into an unclean place.

“‘When a man has a seminal emission, ¹  he must bathe his whole body in water ²  and be unclean until evening,

“Speak to the whole congregation of the Israelites and tell them, ‘You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

All the tithe of herd or flock, everything which passes under the rod, the tenth one will be holy to the Lord. ¹ 

You are to bring the Levites before the tent of meeting and assemble the entire community of the Israelites.

If you kill ¹  this entire people at once, ²  then the nations that have heard of your fame will say,

We will be innocent if we carefully keep all these commandments ¹  before the Lord our God, just as he demands.” ² 

When the Israelites heard this, the entire Israelite community assembled at Shiloh to launch an attack against them. ¹ 

When Zebah and Zalmunna ran away, Gideon ¹  chased them and captured the two Midianite kings, Zebah and Zalmunna. He had surprised ²  their entire army.

Ruth the Moabite replied, “He even ¹  told me, ‘You may go along beside my servants ²  until they have finished gathering all my harvest!’” ³ 

So the king and all the members of his royal court ¹  set out on foot, though the king left behind ten concubines ²  to attend to the palace.

They went through all the land and after nine months and twenty days came back to Jerusalem. ¹
