When the godly see this, they will be filled with awe, and will mock the evildoer, saying: ¹ 

He caused all their conquerors ¹  to have pity on them.

The ¹  disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, “Then who can be saved?” ² 

When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.

They were even more astonished and said ¹  to one another, “Then ²  who can be saved?” ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “I performed one miracle ²  and you are all amazed. ³ 

If you see the extortion ¹  of the poor, or the perversion ²  of justice and fairness in the government, ³  do not be astonished by the matter. For the high official is watched by a higher official, ⁴  and there are higher ones over them! ⁵ 

I looked, but there was no one to help; I was shocked because there was no one offering support. ¹  So my right arm accomplished deliverance; my raging anger drove me on. ² 

Then ¹  he came to his hometown ²  and began to teach the people ³  in their synagogue. ⁴  They ⁵  were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?

The chief priests and the experts in the law ¹  heard it and they considered how they could assassinate ²  him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed by his teaching.

But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. ¹  He has been raised! ²  He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.

When Peter saw this, he declared to the people, “Men of Israel, ¹  why are you amazed at this? Why ²  do you stare at us as if we had made this man ³  walk by our own power or piety?

But ¹  the angel said to me, “Why are you astounded? I will interpret ²  for you the mystery of the woman and of the beast with the seven heads and ten horns that carries her.

Be amazed at this, O heavens! ¹  Be shocked and utterly dumbfounded,” says the Lord.

He took Peter, James, ¹  and John with him, and became very troubled and distressed.

For ¹  Peter ²  and all who were with him were astonished ³  at the catch of fish that they had taken,

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

Then the chiefs of Edom will be terrified, ¹  trembling will seize ²  the leaders of Moab, and the inhabitants of Canaan will shake.

When the Israelites turned around, the Benjaminites panicked ¹  because they could see that disaster was on their doorstep. ² 

(just as many were horrified by the sight of you) ¹  he was so disfigured ²  he no longer looked like a man; ³
