When Joseph reached Shechem, ¹  a man found him wandering ²  in the field, so the man asked him, “What are you looking for?”

His master observed that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made everything he was doing successful. ¹ 

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord said, ¹  “Here is the man that I told you about! He will rule over my people.”

All the people noticed this and it pleased them. ¹  In fact, everything the king did pleased all the people.

I saw something else on earth: ¹  In the place of justice, there was wickedness, and in the place of fairness, ²  there was wickedness.

“Take the harp, go through the city, forgotten prostitute! Play it well, play lots of songs, so you’ll be noticed!” ¹ 

Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the Lord’s house. I noticed ¹  women sitting there weeping for Tammuz. ² 

Next I noticed the man dressed in linen with the writing kit at his side bringing back word: “I have done just as you commanded me.”

I saw that the temple had a raised platform all around; the foundations of the side chambers were a full measuring stick ¹  of 10½ feet ²  high.

But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, ¹  “Lord, save me!”

They ¹  do all their deeds to be seen by people, for they make their phylacteries ²  wide and their tassels ³  long.

When ¹  he went out to the gateway, another slave girl ²  saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.”

After ¹  this, Jesus ²  went out and saw a tax collector ³  named Levi ⁴  sitting at the tax booth. ⁵  “Follow me,” ⁶  he said to him.

Now people ¹  were even bringing their babies ²  to him for him to touch. ³  But when the disciples saw it, they began to scold those who brought them. ⁴ 

When Jesus noticed this, ¹  he said, “How hard ²  it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! ³ 

Then ¹  a little later someone else ²  saw him and said, “You are one of them too.” But Peter said, “Man, ³  I am not!”

Now while Jesus ¹  was in Jerusalem ²  at the feast of the Passover, many people believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs he was doing. ³ 

When Jesus saw him lying there and when he realized ¹  that the man ²  had been disabled a long time already, he said to him, “Do you want to become well?”

But Stephen, ¹  full ²  of the Holy Spirit, looked intently ³  toward heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing ⁴  at the right hand of God.

This man was listening to Paul as he was speaking. When Paul ¹  stared ²  intently at him and saw he had faith to be healed,
