Then David prayed to ¹  God for the child and fasted. ²  He would even ³  go and spend the night lying on the ground.

He did not seek the Lord’s guidance, so the Lord ¹  killed him and transferred the kingdom to David son of Jesse.

Let’s move the ark of our God back here, ¹  for we did not seek his will ²  throughout Saul’s reign.” ³ 

We inquired of those elders, asking them, ‘Who gave you the authority to rebuild this temple and to complete this structure?’

We also inquired of their names in order to inform you, so that we might write the names of the men who were their leaders.

The king then inquired of the wise men who were discerners of the times – for it was the royal custom to confer with all those who were proficient in laws and legalities. ¹ 

God looks down from heaven ¹  at the human race, ²  to see if there is anyone who is wise ³  and seeks God. ⁴ 

For our leaders ¹  are stupid. They have not sought the Lord’s advice. ²  So they do not act wisely, and the people they are responsible for ³  have all been scattered.

They will bear their punishment; ¹  the punishment of the one who sought an oracle will be the same as the punishment of the prophet who gave it ² 

He inquired of Arioch the king’s deputy, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” ¹  Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter.

So ¹  Pilate asked him, “Are you the king ²  of the Jews?” He replied, ³  “You say so.” ⁴ 

Was it just today that I began to inquire of God on his behalf? Far be it from me! The king should not accuse ¹  his servant or any of my father’s house. For your servant is not aware of all this – not in whole or in part!” ²

Finally Saul ¹  himself went to Ramah. When he arrived at the large cistern that is in Secu, he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” They said, “At Naioth in Ramah.”

But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, was in front of the Lord’s tabernacle. ¹  Solomon and the entire assembly prayed to him ²  there.)

He followed ¹  God during the lifetime of ²  Zechariah, who taught him how to honor God. As long as he followed ³  the Lord, God caused him to succeed. ⁴ 

Daniel replied to the king, “The mystery that the king is asking about is such that no wise men, astrologers, magicians, or diviners can possibly disclose it to the king.
