So ¹  they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

So ¹  the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, ²  Mary, for you have found favor ³  with God!

Early in the morning ¹  Abimelech summoned ²  all his servants. When he told them about all these things, ³  they ⁴  were terrified.

Accomplish awesome, faithful deeds, ¹  you who powerfully deliver those who look to you for protection from their enemies. ² 

My heart palpitates, ¹  I shake in fear; ²  the twilight I desired has brought me terror.

They will report that the fords have been captured, the reed marshes have been burned, the soldiers are terrified. ¹ 

He broke down ¹  their strongholds ²  and devastated their cities. The land and everything in it was frightened at the sound of his roaring.

All the inhabitants of the coastlands are shocked at you, and their kings are horribly afraid – their faces are troubled.

Then all the color drained from the king’s face ¹  and he became alarmed. ²  The joints of his hips gave way, ³  and his knees began knocking together.

He will roar like a lion, and they will follow the Lord; when he roars, his children will come trembling ¹  from the west.

They will return in fear and trembling ¹  like birds from Egypt, like doves from Assyria, and I will settle them in their homes,” declares the Lord.

But the angel said ¹  to the women, “Do not be afraid; I know ²  that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. ³ 

Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.”

Then ¹  they went out and ran from the tomb, for terror and bewilderment had seized them. ²  And they said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

And when you hear of wars and rebellions, ¹  do not be afraid. ²  For these things must happen first, but the end will not come at once.” ³ 

‘I am the God of your forefathers, ¹  the God of Abraham, Isaac, ²  and Jacob.’ ³  Moses began to tremble and did not dare to look more closely. ⁴ 

and said, ¹  ‘Do not be afraid, Paul! You must stand before ²  Caesar, ³  and God has graciously granted you the safety ⁴  of all who are sailing with you.’

like Sarah who obeyed ¹  Abraham, calling him lord. You become her children ²  when you do what is good and have no fear in doing so. ³ 

But in fact, if you happen to suffer ¹  for doing what is right, ²  you are blessed. But do not be terrified of them ³  or be shaken. ⁴ 

But the men were afraid when they were brought to Joseph’s house. They said, “We are being brought in because of ¹  the money that was returned in our sacks last time. ²  He wants to capture us, ³  make us slaves, and take ⁴  our donkeys!”
