He remembered ¹  that they were made of flesh, and were like a wind that blows past and does not return. ² 

You ¹  devour my people’s flesh, strip off their skin, and crush their bones. You chop them up like flesh in a pot ²  – like meat in a kettle.

For those who live according to the flesh have their outlook shaped by ¹  the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their outlook shaped by the things of the Spirit.

For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires ¹  that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to ²  each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

because the person who sows to his own flesh ¹  will reap corruption ²  from the flesh, ³  but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit.

So, since Christ suffered ¹  in the flesh, you also arm yourselves with the same attitude, because the one who has suffered in the flesh has finished with sin, ² 

Then Laban said to him, “You are indeed my own flesh and blood.” ¹  So Jacob ²  stayed with him for a month. ³ 

You are my brothers – my very own flesh and blood! ¹  Why should you delay any further in bringing the king back?’

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began to argue with one another, ²  “How can this man ³  give us his flesh to eat?”

My body ¹  is clothed ²  with worms ³  and dirty scabs; ⁴  my skin is broken ⁵  and festering.

My bones stick to my skin and my flesh; ¹  I have escaped ²  alive ³  with only the skin of my teeth.

Why do you pursue me like God does? ¹  Will you never be satiated with my flesh? ² 

So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

– children not born ¹  by human parents ²  or by human desire ³  or a husband’s ⁴  decision, ⁵  but by God.

Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh to arouse its desires. ¹ 

But I say, live ¹  by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. ² 

Now the works of the flesh ¹  are obvious: ²  sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,

Now those who belong to Christ ¹  have crucified the flesh ²  with its passions ³  and desires.

by the fresh and living way that he inaugurated for us ¹  through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, ² 

On ¹  the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin ²  must be circumcised.
