The discerning person ¹  acquires knowledge, and the wise person ²  seeks ³  knowledge.

If you strike ¹  him with the rod, you will deliver him ²  from death. ³ 

These people make promises in the name of the Lord. ¹  But the fact is, ²  what they swear to is really a lie.” ³ 

Jesus said to them, “Have faith in God.

and the one who sees me sees the one who sent me. ¹ 

This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it. ¹ 

to do as much as your power ¹  and your plan ²  had decided beforehand ³  would happen.

This is the reason I was often hindered from coming to you.

Have you suffered so many things for nothing? – if indeed it was for nothing.

He who calls you is trustworthy, and he will in fact do this. ¹ 

And this is even clearer if another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek,

Now the first covenant, ¹  in fact, had regulations for worship and its earthly sanctuary.

For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. ¹ 

You have condemned and murdered the righteous person, although he does not resist you. ¹ 

He must not replace or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good, and if he does indeed exchange one animal for another animal, then both the original animal ¹  and its substitute will be holy.

It is not because you were more numerous than all the other peoples that the Lord favored and chose you – for in fact you were the least numerous of all peoples.

We swear we have done this because we were worried that ¹  in the future your descendants would say to our descendants, ‘What relationship do you have with the Lord God of Israel? ²
