When the governor ¹  had read ²  the letter, ³  he asked ⁴  what province he was from. ⁵  When he learned ⁶  that he was from Cilicia, ⁷

(Geshur and Aram captured the towns of Jair, ¹  along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding towns.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.

He came to what was his own, ¹  but ²  his own people ³  did not receive him. ⁴ 

Then he ¹  will bring you to the land your ancestors ²  possessed and you also will possess it; he will do better for you and multiply you more than he did your ancestors.
