Let such a person consider this: What we say ¹  by letters when we are absent, we also are in actions when we are present.

But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end,

“Is this not stored up with me?” says the Lord, ¹  “Is it not sealed up in my storehouses?

They say, “How does God know what we do? Is the sovereign one aware of what goes on?” ¹ 

People say wonderful things about you, ¹  O city of God. (Selah)

I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. ¹ 

“Son of man, confront Jerusalem ¹  with her abominable practices

“But look, the hand of the one who betrays ¹  me is with me on the table. ² 

Fool! What you sow will not come to life unless it dies.

For in him all the fullness of deity lives ¹  in bodily form,

But understand this, that in the last days difficult ¹  times will come.

Pharaoh’s servants said to him, “How long ¹  will this man be a menace ²  to us? Release the people so that they may serve the Lord their God. Do you not know ³  that Egypt is destroyed?”

or anything about which he swears falsely. ¹  He must restore it in full ²  and add one fifth to it; he must give it to its owner when he is found guilty. ³

But they do not realize ¹  that the dead ²  are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave. ³ 

¹ Be careful what you do ²  when you go to the temple ³  of God; draw near to listen ⁴  rather than to offer a sacrifice ⁵  like fools, ⁶  for they do not realize that they are doing wrong.

In times of prosperity ¹  be joyful, but in times of adversity ²  consider this: God has made one as well as the other, ³  so that no one can discover what the future holds. ⁴ 

My eye will not pity you; I will not spare ¹  you. ²  For I will hold you responsible for your behavior, ³  and you will suffer the consequences of your abominable practices. ⁴  Then you will know that I am the Lord!
