For Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised plans against the Jews to destroy them. He had cast pur (that is, the lot) in order to afflict and destroy them.

So the Jews committed themselves to continue what they had begun to do and to what Mordecai had written to them.

Then the Jews who were hostile to Jesus ¹  began complaining about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven,”

When ¹  they had brought them ²  before the magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion. ³  They are ⁴  Jews

But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

Do not give offense to Jews or Greeks or to the church of God,

And the rest of the Jews also joined with him in this hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was led astray with them ¹  by their hypocrisy.

But just as Paul was about to speak, ¹  Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of some crime or serious piece of villainy, ²  I would have been justified in accepting the complaint ³  of you Jews, ⁴ 

You people ¹  worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. ² 

To the Jews I became like a Jew to gain the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law) ¹  to gain those under the law.

After this ¹  there was a Jewish feast, ²  and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ³ 

So then the Jewish leaders ¹  responded, ²  “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?” ³ 

The man went away and informed the Jewish leaders ¹  that Jesus was the one who had made him well.

Now because Jesus was doing these things ¹  on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders ²  began persecuting ³  him.

Then the Jewish leaders ¹  were astonished ²  and said, “How does this man know so much when he has never had formal instruction?” ³ 

Then the Judeans ¹  replied, ²  “You are not yet fifty years old! ³  Have ⁴  you seen Abraham?”

so many of the Jewish people of the region ¹  had come to Martha and Mary to console them ²  over the loss of their brother.) ³ 

for on account of him many of the Jewish people from Jerusalem ¹  were going away and believing in Jesus.

When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made ¹  an attempt to mistreat ²  them and stone them, ³
