Be wise, my son, ¹  and make my heart glad, so that I may answer ²  anyone who taunts me. ³ 

And you will be brought before governors and kings ¹  because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.

Then the disciples came to him and said, “Do you know that when the Pharisees ¹  heard this saying they were offended?”

But when Jesus heard this, he told ¹  him, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” ² 

Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?

So then the Jewish leaders ¹  responded, ²  “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?” ³ 

Jacob was very afraid and upset. So he divided the people who were with him into two camps, as well as the flocks, herds, and camels.

Now, do not be upset and do not be angry with yourselves because you sold me here, ¹  for God sent me ²  ahead of you to preserve life!

Aaron said, “Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; ¹  you know these people, that they tend to evil. ² 

Her rival wife used to upset her and make her worry, ¹  for the Lord had not enabled her to have children.

But this request displeased Samuel, for ¹  they said, “Give us a king to lead us.” So Samuel prayed to the Lord.

Then his wife Jezebel came in and said to him, “Why do you have a bitter attitude and refuse to eat?”

When they arrived at the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to take hold of ¹  the ark, because the oxen stumbled.

(3:33) ¹  Now when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall he became angry and was quite upset. He derided the Jews,

What can I say? He has decreed and acted. ¹  I will walk slowly all my years because I am overcome with grief. ² 

When Jesus was aware ¹  that his disciples were complaining ²  about this, he said to them, “Does this cause you to be offended? ³ 

When he had said these things, Jesus was greatly distressed ¹  in spirit, and testified, ²  “I tell you the solemn truth, ³  one of you will betray me.” ⁴ 

While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, ¹  his spirit was greatly upset ²  because he saw ³  the city was full of idols.

And David says, “Let their table become a snare and trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them;

For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy, because I promised you in marriage to one husband, ¹  to present you as a pure ²  virgin to Christ.
