He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.

So also you, when you see these things happening, know ¹  that he is near, right at the door.

he got up from the meal, removed ¹  his outer clothes, ²  took a towel and tied it around himself. ³ 

We did this ¹  as a precaution so that no one should blame us in regard to this generous gift we are administering.

Then, gently taking the child by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up.”

Next he presented the grain offering, filled his hand with some of it, and offered it up in smoke on the altar in addition to the morning burnt offering. ¹ 

Praised be your good judgment! May you yourself be rewarded ¹  for having prevented me this day from shedding blood and taking matters into my own hands!

The hungry ¹  eat up his harvest, ²  and take it even from behind the thorns, ³  and the thirsty ⁴  swallow up ⁵  their fortune. ⁶ 

Look, the sovereign Lord who commands armies ¹  is about to remove from Jerusalem ²  and Judah every source of security, including ³  all the food and water, ⁴
