He had ¹  so many sheep ²  and cattle ³  and such a great household of servants that the Philistines became jealous ⁴  of him.

Lambs ¹  will graze as if in their pastures, amid the ruins the rich sojourners will graze. ² 

We have not built any houses to live in. We do not own any vineyards, fields, or crops.

So Israel began his journey, taking with him all that he had. ¹  When he came to Beer Sheba ²  he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.

Israel settled in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they owned land there. They were fruitful and increased rapidly in number.

As for ¹  the cities of the Levites, the houses in the cities which they possess, ²  the Levites must have a perpetual right of redemption.

In the jubilee year the field will return to the one from whom he bought it, the one to whom it belongs as landed property.

They and all that they had went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed over them. So they perished from among the community.

The Levites received within the land owned by the Israelites ¹  forty-eight cities in all and their grazing areas.

They threw away the foreign gods they owned ¹  and worshiped ²  the Lord. Finally the Lord grew tired of seeing Israel suffer so much. ³ 

Now this man Micah owned a shrine. ¹  He made an ephod ²  and some personal idols and hired one of his sons to serve as a priest. ³
