When ¹  they had driven him out of the city, they began to stone him, ²  and the witnesses laid their cloaks ³  at the feet of a young man named Saul.

They named that place Bokim ¹  and offered sacrifices to the Lord there.

There was a man named Micah from the Ephraimite hill country.

(Now seven sons of a man named ¹  Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this.) ² 

The first came out reddish ¹  all over, ²  like a hairy ³  garment, so they named him Esau. ⁴ 

His servants ¹  dug another well, but they quarreled over it too, so Isaac named it ²  Sitnah. ³ 

She named him Joseph, ¹  saying, “May the Lord give me yet another son.”

But one of the sons of Ahimelech son of Ahitub escaped and fled to David. His name was Abiathar.

The first daughter he named Jemimah, ¹  the second Keziah, ²  and the third Keren-Happuch. ³ 

A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection.

Now a certain man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived. ¹ 

When ¹  Adam had lived 130 years he fathered a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and he named him Seth.
