We have submitted ¹  to Egypt and Assyria in order to buy food to eat. ²

So in this case I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, because if this plan or this undertaking originates with people, ¹  it will come to nothing, ² 

but since it concerns points of disagreement ¹  about words and names and your own law, settle ²  it yourselves. I will not be ³  a judge of these things!”

And he is also the father of the circumcised, ¹  who are not only circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham possessed when he was still uncircumcised. ² 

And besides that, going around ¹  from house to house they learn to be lazy, ²  and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not. ³ 

For all the gods of the nations are worthless, ¹  but the Lord made the heavens. ² 

Would he contend ¹  with me with great power? No, he would only pay attention to me. ² 

Terrify them, Lord! ¹  Let the nations know they are mere mortals! ²  (Selah)

He remembered ¹  that they were made of flesh, and were like a wind that blows past and does not return. ² 

For all the gods of the nations are worthless, ¹  but the Lord made the sky.

Each of you should merely ask the prophet, ‘What answer did the Lord give you? Or what did the Lord say?’ ¹ 

“It was said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife must give her a legal document.’ ¹ 

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?” ¹ 

But if we say, ‘From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.” ¹
