O descendants ¹  of Jacob, come, let us walk in the Lord’s guiding light. ² 

a light, ¹  for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory ²  to your people Israel.”

In him was life, ¹  and the life was the light of mankind. ² 

And the light shines on ¹  in the darkness, ²  but ³  the darkness has not mastered it. ⁴ 

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself ¹  as an angel of light.

People ¹  do not light a lamp and put it under a basket ²  but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.

The sun will no longer supply light for you by day, nor will the moon’s brightness shine on you; the Lord will be your permanent source of light – the splendor of your God will shine upon you. ¹ 

God placed the lights ¹  in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth,

He reveals the deep things of darkness, and brings deep shadows ¹  into the light.

They grope about in darkness ¹  without light; he makes them stagger ²  like drunkards.

Then from the wicked the light is withheld, and the arm raised in violence ¹  is broken. ² 

He drove me into captivity ¹  and made me walk ²  in darkness and not light.

Therefore see to it ¹  that the light in you ²  is not darkness.

There are those ¹  who rebel against the light; they do not know its ways and they do not stay on its paths.

to turn back his life from the place of corruption, that he may be enlightened with the light of life.

For the commandments ¹  are like ²  a lamp, ³  instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like ⁴  the road leading to life, ⁵ 

The light ¹  of the righteous shines brightly, ²  but the lamp ³  of the wicked goes out. ⁴ 

The one who loves his fellow Christian ¹  resides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. ² 

These men ¹  change ²  night into day; they say, ³  ‘The light is near in the face of darkness.’ ⁴ 

Its snorting throws out flashes of light; its eyes are like the red glow ¹  of dawn.
