So Joshua fought against Amalek just as Moses had instructed him; ¹ and Moses and Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

They even built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

Until the dawn arrives ¹  and the shadows flee, I will go up to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.

This very day, standing in Nob, they shake their fist at Daughter Zion’s mountain ¹  – at the hill of Jerusalem.

I will turn them and the regions around my hill into a blessing. I will make showers come down in their season; they will be showers that bring blessing. ¹ 

All ¹  their neighbors were filled with fear, and throughout the entire hill country of Judea all these things were talked about.

Joshua conquered the whole land, ¹  including the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of Goshen, the lowlands, ²  the Arabah, the hill country of Israel and its lowlands,

When he reached Seirah, ¹  he blew a trumpet ²  in the Ephraimite hill country. The Israelites went down with him from the hill country, with Ehud in the lead. ³ 

They left and went up to the hill country, coming to the Eshcol Valley, ¹  which they scouted out.

He built cities in the hill country of Judah and fortresses and towers in the forests.

Who is allowed to ascend ¹  the mountain of the Lord? ²  Who may go up to his holy dwelling place?

At that time Joshua attacked and eliminated the Anakites from the hill country ¹  – from Hebron, Debir, Anab, and all the hill country of Judah and Israel. ²  Joshua annihilated them and their cities.

So he took his relatives ¹  with him and pursued Jacob ²  for seven days. ³  He caught up with ⁴  him in the hill country of Gilead.

When Moses sent ¹  them to investigate the land of Canaan, he told them, “Go up through the Negev, ²  and then go up into the hill country

But they dared ¹  to go up to the crest of the hill, although ²  neither the ark of the covenant of the Lord nor Moses departed from the camp.

So the Amalekites and the Canaanites who lived in that hill country swooped ¹  down and attacked them ²  as far as Hormah. ³ 

I spoke to you, but you did not listen. Instead you rebelled against the Lord ¹  and recklessly went up to the hill country.

They assigned them Kiriath Arba (Arba was the father of Anak), that is, Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, along with its surrounding grazing areas.

Later the men of Judah went down to attack the Canaanites living in the hill country, the Negev, and the lowlands. ¹ 

The people ¹  buried him in his allotted land ²  in Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash.
