For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified. ¹ 

and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.

He frustrates ¹  the plans ²  of the crafty ³  so that ⁴  their hands cannot accomplish what they had planned! ⁵ 

He deprives the trusted advisers ¹  of speech ²  and takes away the discernment ³  of elders.

But you even break off ¹  piety, ²  and hinder ³  meditation ⁴  before God.

May he grant your heart’s desire; ¹  may he bring all your plans to pass! ² 

Confirm to your servant your promise, ¹  which you made to the one who honors you. ² 

It is time for the Lord to act – they break your law!

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

Plans ¹  are established by counsel, so ²  make war ³  with guidance.

מ (Mem) Whose command was ever fulfilled ¹  unless the Lord ²  decreed it?

because these are days of vengeance, ¹  to fulfill ²  all that is written.

In this way the word of the Lord ¹  continued to grow in power ²  and to prevail. ³ 

for the fruit of the light ¹  consists in ²  all goodness, righteousness, and truth –

For you yourselves know, brothers and sisters, ¹  about our coming to you – it has not proven to be purposeless. ² 

Reinforce ¹  these commands, ²  so that they will be beyond reproach.

And so by persevering, Abraham ¹  inherited the promise.

So even the first covenant was inaugurated with blood. ¹ 

So Joseph made it a statute, ¹  which is in effect ²  to this day throughout the land of Egypt: One-fifth belongs to Pharaoh. Only the land of the priests did not become Pharaoh’s.

“As for this temple you are building, if you follow ¹  my rules, observe ²  my regulations, and obey all my commandments, ³  I will fulfill through you the promise I made to your father David. ⁴
