Then ¹  the king will be attracted by ²  your beauty. After all, he is your master! Submit ³  to him! ⁴ 

He satisfies the desire ¹  of his loyal followers; ²  he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

Pursue love and be eager for the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death.

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.

O Lord, you understand my heart’s desire; ¹  my groaning is not hidden from you.

From the fruit of his speech ¹  a person eats good things, ²  but the faithless ³  desire ⁴  the fruit of violence. ⁵ 

Hope ¹  deferred ²  makes the heart sick, ³  but a longing fulfilled ⁴  is like ⁵  a tree of life.

One who has isolated himself ¹  seeks his own desires; ²  he rejects ³  all sound judgment.

You will never come back to this land to which you will long to return!” ¹ 

For I delight in faithfulness, not simply in sacrifice; I delight ¹  in acknowledging God, not simply in whole burnt offerings. ² 

But you should be eager for the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. ¹ 

When the wicked ¹  see this, they will worry; they will grind their teeth in frustration ²  and melt away; the desire of the wicked will perish. ³ 

They ate until they were stuffed; ¹  he gave them what they desired.

It is dangerous ¹  to have zeal ²  without knowledge, and the one who acts hastily ³  makes poor choices. ⁴ 

if you should see among them ¹  an attractive woman whom you wish to take as a wife,

Lord, you have heard ¹  the request ²  of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer. ³ 

Go and learn what this saying means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ ¹  For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

If ¹  you had known what this means: ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice,’ ²  you would not have condemned the innocent.

But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end,
