Then ¹  they asked Jesus ²  to leave their region.

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

Others, to test ¹  him, ²  began asking for ³  a sign ⁴  from heaven.

So they asked him, ¹  “How then were you made to see?” ² 

Jacob became angry ¹  and argued with Laban. “What did I do wrong?” he demanded of Laban. ²  “What sin of mine prompted you to chase after me in hot pursuit? ³ 

The Israelite foremen whom Pharaoh’s slave masters had set over them were beaten and were asked, ¹  “Why did you not complete your requirement for brickmaking as in the past – both yesterday and today?” ² 

The men of the city said to Joash, “Bring out your son, so we can execute him! ¹  He pulled down the Baal altar and cut down the nearby Asherah pole.”

This made the king of Syria upset. ¹  So he summoned his advisers ²  and said to them, “One of us must be helping the king of Israel.” ³ 

Pharaoh Necho imprisoned him in Riblah in the land of Hamath and prevented him from ruling in Jerusalem. ¹  He imposed on the land a special tax ²  of one hundred talents ³  of silver and a talent of gold.

Now after Jesus ¹  entered the temple courts, ²  the chief priests and elders of the people came up to him as he was teaching and said, “By what authority ³  are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

But the one who did not know his master’s will ¹  and did things worthy of punishment ²  will receive a light beating. ³  From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, ⁴  and from the one who has been entrusted with much, ⁵  even more will be asked. ⁶ 

Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Acquire this young girl as my wife.” ¹ 

So he ¹  said to her, “How often do you intend to get drunk? Put away your wine!”

So Saul said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” Then he offered a burnt offering.

Jonathan responded to his father Saul, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?”

“For you took pledges ¹  from your brothers for no reason, and you stripped the clothing from the naked. ² 

“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their ¹  hands when they eat.” ² 

He asked, “Why? What wrong has he done?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

They ¹  blindfolded him and asked him repeatedly, ²  “Prophesy! Who hit you?” ³
