clothed in blue, governors and officials, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding on horses.

They helped David fight against raiding bands, for all of them were warriors and leaders in the army.

But ¹  a suitable day ²  came, when Herod gave a banquet on his birthday for his court officials, military commanders, and leaders of Galilee.

¹  Then the leaders of the Philistines would march out, and as often as they did so, David achieved more success than all of Saul’s servants. His name was held in high esteem.
