You are to weave ¹  the tunic of fine linen and make the turban of fine linen, and make the sash the work of an embroiderer.

When you cross the Jordan River ¹  to the land the Lord your God is giving you, you must erect great stones and cover ²  them with plaster.

Make ¹  for yourself an ark of cypress ²  wood. Make rooms in the ark, and cover ³  it with pitch inside and out.

When he heard me raise ¹  my voice and scream, he left his outer garment beside me and ran outside.”

He said to me, ‘Stand over me and finish me off! ¹  I’m very dizzy, ²  even though I’m still alive.’ ³ 

They will perish, but you will endure. ¹  They will wear out like a garment; like clothes you will remove them and they will disappear. ² 

He made cursing a way of life, ¹  so curses poured into his stomach like water and seeped into his bones like oil. ² 

The Beloved to Her Lover: “I have already taken off my robe – must I put it on again? I have already washed my feet – must I soil them again?”

So I ¹  waste away like something rotten, ²  like a garment eaten by moths.

If I have seen anyone about to perish for lack of clothing, or a poor man without a coat,

and to put on sandals but not to wear two tunics. ¹
