I was glad about the arrival of Stephanus, Fortunatus, and Achaicus because they have supplied the fellowship with you that I lacked. ¹ 

In the second year after they had come to the temple of God in Jerusalem, ¹  in the second month, Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak initiated the work, ²  along with the rest of their associates, ³  the priests and the Levites, and all those who were coming to Jerusalem from the exile. They appointed ⁴  the Levites who were at least twenty years old ⁵  to take charge of the work on the Lord’s temple.

Two sons were born to Joseph before the famine came. ¹  Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, was their mother. ² 

Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years; the years ¹  of Jacob’s life were 147 in all.

A voice cries out, “In the wilderness clear a way for the Lord; construct in the desert a road for our God.

He came to a town called Nazareth ¹  and lived there. Then what had been spoken by the prophets was fulfilled, that Jesus ²  would be called a Nazarene. ³ 

When the people ¹  there recognized him, they sent word into all the surrounding area, and they brought all their sick to him.

After ¹  they arrived in Capernaum, ²  the collectors of the temple tax ³  came to Peter and said, “Your teacher pays the double drachma tax, doesn’t he?”

For just like the lightning ¹  comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be.

And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. ¹  It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man. ² 

Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, ¹  and on my return I would have received my money back with interest! ² 

Now in that city was a man named Simon, who had been practicing magic ¹  and amazing the people of Samaria, claiming to be someone great.

When he arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him, ¹  bringing many serious ²  charges that they were not able to prove. ³ 

And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How timely ¹  is the arrival ²  of those who proclaim the good news.” ³ 

But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Now regarding the arrival ¹  of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to be with him, ²  we ask you, brothers and sisters, ³ 

The arrival of the lawless one ¹  will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles ²  and signs and false wonders,

– whose appearing ¹  the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will reveal at the right time.

And he will go as forerunner before the Lord ¹  in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, ²  to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.”

After three days ¹  Paul ²  called the local Jewish leaders ³  together. When they had assembled, he said to them, “Brothers, ⁴  although I had done ⁵  nothing against our people or the customs of our ancestors, ⁶  from Jerusalem ⁷  I was handed over as a prisoner to the Romans. ⁸
