But when they bring you before the synagogues, ¹  the ²  rulers, and the authorities, do not worry about how you should make your defense ³  or what you should say,

When you leave me today, you will find two men near Rachel’s tomb at Zelzah on Benjamin’s border. They will say to you, ‘The donkeys you have gone looking for have been found. Your father is no longer concerned about the donkeys but has become anxious about you two! ¹  He is asking, “What should I do about my son?”’

“This is why ¹  my troubled thoughts bring me back ²  – because of my feelings ³  within me.

Anxiety ¹  in a person’s heart ²  weighs him down, ³  but an encouraging ⁴  word brings him joy. ⁵ 

For the creation eagerly waits for the revelation of the sons of God.

Among those nations you will have no rest nor will there be a place of peaceful rest for the soles of your feet, for there the Lord will give you an anxious heart, failing eyesight, and a spirit of despair.

Tell those who panic, ¹  “Be strong! Do not fear! Look, your God comes to avenge! With divine retribution he comes to deliver you.” ² 

Whenever ¹  they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, ²  for what you should say will be given to you at that time. ³ 

Then ¹  Jesus ²  said to his ³  disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry ⁴  about your ⁵  life, what you will eat, or about your ⁶  body, what you will wear.

If you have any words, ¹  reply to me; speak, for I want to justify you. ² 

I sought the Lord’s help ¹  and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.

Though I have done nothing wrong, ¹  they are anxious to attack. ²  Spring into action and help me! Take notice of me! ³ 

All the days ¹  of the afflicted ²  are bad, ³  but one with ⁴  a cheerful heart has a continual feast. ⁵ 

“Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, ¹  and drink your water with anxious shaking.

And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired ¹  to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.

We did this ¹  as a precaution so that no one should blame us in regard to this generous gift we are administering.

Apart from other things, ¹  there is the daily pressure on me of my anxious concern ²  for all the churches.

What does a man acquire from all his labor and from the anxiety that accompanies his toil on earth? ¹ 

Because he wanted to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them. Then, ¹  after he had Jesus flogged, ²  he handed him over ³  to be crucified.

They court you eagerly, ¹  but for no good purpose; ²  they want to exclude you, so that you would seek them eagerly. ³
