So all the king’s wise men came in, but they were unable to read the writing or to make known its ¹  interpretation to the king.

Or have you not read in the law that the priests in the temple desecrate the Sabbath and yet are not guilty?

He answered, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female, ¹ 

He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions were hungry –

Jesus ¹  answered them, ²  “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –

When the governor ¹  had read ²  the letter, ³  he asked ⁴  what province he was from. ⁵  When he learned ⁶  that he was from Cilicia, ⁷ 

When reading this, ¹  you will be able to ²  understand my insight into this secret ³  of Christ.

Micaiah told them everything he had heard Baruch read from the scroll in the hearing of the people. ¹ 

For we do not write you anything other than what ¹  you can read and also understand. But I hope that you will understand completely ² 

Above ¹  his head they put the charge against him, ²  which read: ³  “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, ¹  because he is read aloud ²  in the synagogues ³  every Sabbath.”

To you this entire prophetic revelation ¹  is like words in a sealed scroll. When they hand it to one who can read ²  and say, “Read this,” he responds, “I can’t, because it is sealed.”

So you go there the next time all the people of Judah come in from their towns to fast ¹  in the Lord’s temple. Read out loud where all of them can hear you what I told you the Lord said, which you wrote in the scroll. ² 

He took the Book of the Covenant ¹  and read it aloud ²  to the people, and they said, “We are willing to do and obey ³  all that the Lord has spoken.”

when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place he chooses, you must read this law before them ¹  within their hearing.

Joshua read aloud every commandment Moses had given ¹  before the whole assembly of Israel, including the women, children, and resident foreigners who lived among them. ² 

Hezekiah took the letter ¹  from the messengers and read it. ²  Then Hezekiah went up to the Lord’s temple and spread it out before the Lord.

Hilkiah the high priest informed Shaphan the scribe, “I found the law scroll in the Lord’s temple.” Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan and he read it.

“This is what the Lord says: ‘I am about to bring disaster on this place and its residents, the details of which are recorded in the scroll which the king of Judah has read. ¹ 

“This is what the Lord says: ‘I am about to bring disaster on this place and its residents, the details of which are recorded in the scroll which they read before the king of Judah.
