Is there any falsehood ¹  on my lips? Can my mouth ²  not discern evil things? ³ 

To whom ¹  did you utter these words? And whose spirit has come forth from your mouth? ² 

They are calloused; ¹  they speak arrogantly. ²

¹ In the first ²  year of King Cyrus of Persia, in order to fulfill the Lord’s message ³  spoken through ⁴  Jeremiah, ⁵  the Lord stirred the mind ⁶  of King Cyrus of Persia. He disseminated ⁷  a proclamation ⁸  throughout his entire kingdom, announcing in a written edict ⁹  the following:

After there had been much debate, ¹  Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that some time ago ²  God chose ³  me to preach to the Gentiles so they would hear the message ⁴  of the gospel ⁵  and believe. ⁶ 

And surely, he drew you ¹  from the mouth of distress, to a wide place, unrestricted, ²  and to the comfort ³  of your table filled with rich food. ⁴ 

Look, they hurl insults at me and openly threaten to kill me, ¹  for they say, ²  “Who hears?”

They speak sinful words. ¹  So let them be trapped by their own pride and by the curses and lies they speak!

They ¹  spend all their time planning how to bring him ²  down. ³  They love to use deceit; ⁴  they pronounce blessings with their mouths, but inwardly they utter curses. ⁵  (Selah)
