the conversion value of the male ¹  from twenty years old up to sixty years old ²  is fifty shekels by the standard of the sanctuary shekel. ³ 

collect ¹  five shekels for each ²  one individually; you are to collect ³  this amount ⁴  in the currency of the sanctuary shekel (this shekel is twenty gerahs). ⁵ 

For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, ¹  and where are the tents in which the wicked lived?’ ² 

Lord, in the morning ¹  you will hear ²  me; ³  in the morning I will present my case to you ⁴  and then wait expectantly for an answer. ⁵ 

O Lord, in your good favor you made me secure. ¹  Then you rejected me ²  and I was terrified.

He brings an end to wars throughout the earth; ¹  he shatters ²  the bow and breaks ³  the spear; he burns ⁴  the shields with fire. ⁵ 

when what you dread ¹  comes like a whirlwind, ²  and disaster strikes you ³  like a devastating storm, ⁴  when distressing trouble ⁵  comes on you.

Why do you crush my people and grind the faces of the poor?” ¹  The sovereign Lord who commands armies ²  has spoken.

The people of Damascus will lose heart and turn to flee. Panic will grip them. Pain and anguish will seize them like a woman in labor.

Babylon hammered the whole world to pieces. But see how that ‘hammer’ has been broken and shattered! ¹  See what an object of horror Babylon has become among the nations!

Your altars will be ruined and your incense altars will be broken. I will throw down your slain in front of your idols. ¹

That army will pelt them with stones and slash them with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn their houses. ¹
