he who commands the sun and ¹  it does not shine ²  and seals up ³  the stars;

why it is so dark you cannot see, ¹  and why a flood ²  of water covers you.

He loads the clouds with moisture; ¹  he scatters his lightning through the clouds.

But the Lord was unwilling to destroy David’s dynasty ¹  because of the promise ²  he had made to give David a perpetual dynasty. ³ 

As I watched, I noticed ¹  a windstorm ²  coming from the north – an enormous cloud, with lightning flashing, ³  such that bright light ⁴  rimmed it and came from ⁵  it like glowing amber ⁶  from the middle of a fire.

Those who devise sinful plans are as good as dead, ¹  those who dream about doing evil as they lie in bed. ²  As soon as morning dawns they carry out their plans, ³  because they have the power to do so.

Because of ¹  our God’s tender mercy ²  the dawn ³  will break ⁴  upon us from on high

Calling for lights, the jailer ¹  rushed in and fell down ²  trembling at the feet of Paul and Silas.
