The Lord sent a messenger ¹  and he wiped out all the soldiers, princes, and officers in the army of the king of Assyria. So Sennacherib ²  returned home humiliated. ³  When he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons ⁴  struck him down with the sword.

Their descendants ¹  entered and possessed the land. You subdued before them the Canaanites who were the inhabitants of the land. You delivered them into their hand, together with their kings and the peoples of the land, to deal with as they pleased.

And I said, “Ah, sovereign Lord, I have never been ceremonially defiled before. I have never eaten a carcass or an animal torn by wild beasts; from my youth up, unclean meat ¹  has never entered my mouth.”

And wherever he would go – into villages, towns, or countryside – they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and would ask him if ¹  they could just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

I also established my covenant with them ¹  to give them the land of Canaan, where they were living as resident foreigners. ² 

¹ In the third month after the Israelites went out ²  from the land of Egypt, on the very day, ³  they came to the Desert of Sinai.

When ¹  you enter the land that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you occupy it and live in it,

When David and his men came to the city, they found it burned. ¹  Their wives, sons, and daughters had been taken captive.

King David responded, ¹  “Summon Bathsheba!” ²  She came and stood before the king. ³ 

When King Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and went to the Lord’s temple.

All of them were listed in the genealogical records in the time of King Jotham of Judah and in the time of King Jeroboam of Israel.

You keep track of my misery. ¹  Put my tears in your leather container! ²  Are they not recorded in your scroll? ³

ל (Lamed) Neither the kings of the earth nor the people of the lands ¹  ever thought ²  that enemy or foe would enter the gates ³  of Jerusalem. ⁴ 

and casks of wine ¹  from Izal ²  they exchanged for your products. Wrought iron, cassia, and sweet cane were among your merchandise.

I was concerned for my holy reputation ¹  which the house of Israel profaned among the nations where they went.

Below these chambers was a passage on the east side as one enters from the outer court.

Indeed, the residents of Maroth ¹  hope for something good to happen, ²  though the Lord has sent disaster against the city of Jerusalem. ³ 

Now when ¹  Jesus finished these sayings, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River. ² 

But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.
