but in the church I want to speak five words with my mind to instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.

If someone speaks in a tongue, it should be two, or at the most three, one after the other, and someone must interpret.

These things may be treated as an allegory, ¹  for these women represent two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai bearing children for slavery; this is Hagar.

In the same way ¹  husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Nevertheless, ¹  each one of you must also love his own wife as he loves himself, ²  and the wife must ³  respect ⁴  her husband.

And I pray this, that your love may abound even more and more in knowledge and every kind of insight

so that you can decide what is best, and thus be sincere and blameless for the day of Christ,

And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds ¹  in Christ Jesus.

We proclaim him by instructing ¹  and teaching ²  all people ³  with all wisdom so that we may present every person mature ⁴  in Christ.

Preach the message, ¹  be ready ²  whether it is convenient or not, ³  reprove, rebuke, exhort ⁴  with complete patience and instruction.

Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to conduct ourselves rightly in every respect.

By his sovereign plan he gave us birth ¹  through the message of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings. ¹ 

Their ¹  corpses will lie in the street ²  of the great city that is symbolically ³  called Sodom and Egypt, where their Lord was also crucified.

Here is ¹  another ²  enigma ³  that occurs on earth: Sometimes there are righteous people who get what the wicked deserve, ⁴  and sometimes there are wicked people who get what the righteous deserve. ⁵  I said, “This also is an enigma.”

“This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. Now you, Belteshazzar, declare its ¹  interpretation, for none of the wise men in ²  my kingdom are able to make known to me the interpretation. But you can do so, for a spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

Then Daniel (whose name is also Belteshazzar) was upset for a brief time; ¹  his thoughts were alarming him. The king said, “Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream and its interpretation alarm you.” But Belteshazzar replied, “Sir, ²  if only the dream were for your enemies and its interpretation applied to your adversaries!

That is why its name was called ¹  Babel ²  – because there the Lord confused the language of the entire world, and from there the Lord scattered them across the face of the entire earth.

Both of them, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream ¹  the same night. ²  Each man’s dream had its own meaning. ³ 

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation of the first dream was favorable, ¹  he said to Joseph, “I also appeared in my dream and there were three baskets of white bread ²  on my head.
