However, it is good ¹  to be sought eagerly ²  for a good purpose ³  at all times, and not only when I am present with you.

But the Lord said to him, “All right then, ¹  if anyone kills Cain, Cain will be avenged seven times as much.” ²  Then the Lord put a special mark ³  on Cain so that no one who found him would strike him down. ⁴ 

“‘These are the appointed times of the Lord that you must proclaim as holy assemblies to present a gift to the Lord – burnt offering, grain offering, sacrifice, and drink offerings, ¹  each day according to its regulation, ² 

The next day an evil spirit from God rushed upon Saul and he prophesied within his house. Now David was playing the lyre ¹  that day. There was a spear in Saul’s hand,

Then Jonathan called David and told him all these things. Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he served him as he had done formerly. ¹

Are they servants of Christ? (I am talking like I am out of my mind!) I am even more so: with much greater labors, with far more imprisonments, with more severe beatings, facing death many times.

The Lord’s spirit began to control him ¹  in Mahaneh Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

But the Lord delivers the godly; ¹  he protects them in times of trouble. ² 

Pay back our neighbors in full! ¹  May they be insulted the same way they insulted you, O Lord! ² 

Make us happy in proportion to the days you have afflicted us, in proportion to the years we have experienced ¹  trouble!

in order to protect him from times of trouble, ¹  until the wicked are destroyed. ² 

at one time outside, at another ¹  in the wide plazas, and by every corner she lies in wait.)

Blessed is the one who is always cautious, ¹  but whoever hardens his heart ²  will fall into evil.

For this reason whoever is smart ¹  keeps quiet ²  in such a time, for it is an evil ³  time.

The Lord is good ¹  – indeed, ²  he is a fortress ³  in time of distress, ⁴  and he protects ⁵  those who seek refuge ⁶  in him.

(Now Judas, the one who betrayed him, knew the place too, because Jesus had met there many times ¹  with his disciples.) ² 

Let our leaders take steps ¹  on behalf of all the assembly. Let all those in our towns who have married foreign women come at an appointed time, and with them the elders of each town and its judges, until the hot anger of our God is turned away from us in this matter.”

“Then, when they were at rest again, they went back to doing evil before you. Then you abandoned them to ¹  their enemies, and they gained dominion over them. When they again cried out to you, in your compassion you heard from heaven and rescued them time and again.

You will be driven from human society, and you will live with the wild animals. You will be fed grass like oxen, and seven periods of time will pass by for you before ¹  you understand that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms and gives them to whomever he wishes.”
