I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold, and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

therefore you will no longer devour people and no longer bereave your nation of children, declares the sovereign Lord.

The Lord brought Israel out of Egypt by a prophet, and due to a prophet ¹  Israel ²  was preserved alive. ³ 

But when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and gently took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised.” And they became greatly distressed.

But when Herod heard this, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised!”

This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

All ¹  those who lived in Lydda ²  and Sharon ³  saw him, and they ⁴  turned ⁵  to the Lord.

For the death he died, he died to sin once for all, but the life he lives, he lives to God.

For sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it I died. ¹ 

The one who is spiritual discerns ¹  all things, yet he himself is understood ²  by no one.

So then whether we are alive ¹  or away, we make it our ambition to please him. ² 

You ought to say instead, ¹  “If the Lord is willing, then we will live and do this or that.”

Otherwise, as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives – he who has prevented me from harming you – if you had not come so quickly to meet me, by morning’s light not even one male belonging to Nabal would have remained alive!”

We will come against him wherever he happens to be found. We will descend on him like the dew falls on the ground. Neither he nor any of the men who are with him will be spared alive – not one of them!

If we go into the city, we’ll die of starvation, ¹  and if we stay here we’ll die! So come on, let’s defect ²  to the Syrian camp! If they spare us, ³  we’ll live; if they kill us – well, we were going to die anyway.” ⁴ 

and Asa and his army chased them as far as Gerar. The Cushites were wiped out; ¹  they were shattered before the Lord and his army. The men of Judah ²  carried off a huge amount of plunder.

You may eat any moving thing that lives. ¹  As I gave you ²  the green plants, I now give ³  you everything.

Come, let’s make our father drunk with wine ¹  so we can have sexual relations ²  with him and preserve ³  our family line through our father.” ⁴ 

However, if the injured servant ¹  survives one or two days, the owner ²  will not be punished, for he has suffered the loss. ³
