The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of the whole earth.

My strength drains away like water; ¹  all my bones are dislocated; my heart ²  is like wax; it melts away inside me.

As smoke is driven away by the wind, so you drive them away. ¹  As wax melts before fire, so the wicked are destroyed before God.

The mountains will disintegrate ¹  beneath him, and the valleys will be split in two. ²  The mountains will melt ³  like wax in a fire, the rocks will slide down like water cascading down a steep slope. ⁴ 

David’s power steadily grew, for the Lord who commands armies was with him. ¹ 

“‘If a resident foreigner who is with you prospers ¹  and your brother becomes impoverished with regard to him so that ²  he sells himself to a resident foreigner who is with you or to a member ³  of a foreigner’s family,

When they are scorched, ¹  they dry up, when it is hot, they vanish ²  from their place.

that does not respond to ¹  the magicians, or to a skilled snake-charmer.

and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.

They will perish, but you continue. And they will all grow old like a garment,

However, the war was prolonged between the house of Saul and the house of David. David was becoming steadily stronger, while the house of Saul was becoming increasingly weaker.

Look, the sovereign Lord helps me. Who dares to condemn me? Look, all of them will wear out like clothes; a moth will eat away at them.

The man became wealthy. ¹  His influence continued to grow ²  until he became very prominent.

The Israelites, ¹  however, ²  were fruitful, increased greatly, multiplied, and became extremely strong, ³  so that the land was filled with them.

So God treated the midwives well, ¹  and the people multiplied and became very strong.

So they gathered it each morning, ¹  each person according to what he could eat, and when the sun got hot, it would melt. ² 

When the sound of the horn grew louder and louder, ¹  Moses was speaking ²  and God was answering him with a voice. ³ 

Your clothing did not wear out nor did your feet swell all these forty years.

Jehoshaphat’s power kept increasing. He built fortresses and storage cities throughout Judah.

Jehoiada grew old and died at the age of 130. ¹
