When he came to the place, ¹  he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” ² 

And do not lead us into temptation, ¹  but deliver us from the evil one. ² 

So ¹  when the devil ²  had completed every temptation, he departed from him until a more opportune time. ³ 

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

So ¹  he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!” ² 

Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. ¹  And God is faithful: He ²  will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, ³  but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

and forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins ¹  against us. And do not lead us into temptation.” ² 

Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! It ¹  is necessary that stumbling blocks come, but woe to the person through whom they come.

My brothers and sisters, ¹  consider it nothing but joy ²  when you fall into all sorts of trials,

Those ¹  on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, ²  but ³  in a time of testing ⁴  fall away. ⁵ 

Jesus ¹  said to his disciples, “Stumbling blocks are sure to come, but woe ²  to the one through whom they come!

– if so, ¹  then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials, ²  and to reserve the unrighteous for punishment ³  at the day of judgment,

He says, ¹  “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, ²  like they were that day at Massah ³  in the wilderness, ⁴ 

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.

Happy is the one ¹  who endures testing, because when he has proven to be genuine, he will receive the crown of life that God ²  promised to those who love him.

“You are the ones who have remained ¹  with me in my trials.

But because of immoralities, each man should have relations with ¹  his own wife and each woman with ²  her own husband.

This brings you great joy, ¹  although you may have to suffer ²  for a short time in various trials.
