Those who survive him are buried by the plague, ¹  and their ²  widows do not mourn for them.

If what someone has built survives, he will receive a reward.

At the same time the men who had taken the city came out to fight, and the men of Ai were trapped in the middle. ¹  The Israelites struck them down, leaving no survivors or refugees.

Then the Lord will scatter you among the peoples and there will be very few of you ¹  among the nations where the Lord will drive you.

They said to me, “The remnant that remains from the exile there in the province are experiencing considerable ¹  adversity and reproach. The wall of Jerusalem lies breached, and its gates have been burned down!” ² 

Therefore fathers will eat their sons within you, Jerusalem, ¹  and sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments on you, and I will scatter any survivors ²  to the winds. ³
