I rested and slept; I awoke, ¹  for the Lord protects ²  me.

Then David passed away ¹  and was buried in the city of David. ² 

When ¹  the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

But Uriah stayed at the door of the palace with all ¹  the servants of his lord. He did not go down to his house.

Baasha passed away ¹  and was buried in Tirzah. His son Elah replaced him as king.

Omri passed away ¹  and was buried in Samaria. His son Ahab replaced him as king. ² 

Ahab passed away. ¹  His son Ahaziah replaced him as king.

Jehu passed away ¹  and was buried in Samaria. ²  His son Jehoahaz replaced him as king.

Jehoahaz passed away ¹  and was buried ²  in Samaria. His son Joash replaced him as king.

Jeroboam passed away ¹  and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. ²  His son Zechariah replaced him as king.

Menahem passed away ¹  and his son Pekahiah replaced him as king.

Hezekiah passed away ¹  and his son Manasseh replaced him as king.

He passed away ¹  and his son Jehoiachin replaced him as king.

Then Rehoboam passed away ¹  and was buried in the City of David. ²  His son Abijah replaced him as king.

Asa passed away ¹  in the forty-first year of his reign.

Uzziah ¹  built up Elat and restored it to Judah after King Amaziah ²  had passed away. ³ 

Jotham passed away ¹  and was buried in the City of David. ²  His son Ahaz replaced him as king.

So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep, ¹  and while he was asleep, ²  he took part of the man’s side ³  and closed up the place with flesh. ⁴ 

Azariah ¹  built up Elat and restored it to Judah after the king ²  had passed away. ³ 

For now ¹  I would be lying down and ²  would be quiet, ³  I would be asleep and then at peace ⁴
