Whenever it sweeps by, it will overtake you; indeed, ¹  every morning it will sweep by, it will come through during the day and the night.” ²  When this announcement is understood, it will cause nothing but terror.

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Then Satan answered the Lord, “Is it for nothing that Job fears God? ¹ 

Strength lodges in its neck, and despair ¹  runs before it.

The Lord is compassionate and merciful; he is patient ¹  and demonstrates great loyal love. ² 

(For he knew that they had handed him over because of envy.) ¹ 

tasted the good word of God and the miracles of the coming age,

“But if he strikes him out of hatred or throws something at him intentionally ¹  so that he dies,

After the earthquake, there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a soft whisper. ¹ 

So Job opens his mouth to no purpose; ¹  without knowledge he multiplies words.”

I did not harm them, but they hid a net to catch me and dug a pit to trap me. ¹ 

He caused streams to flow from the rock, and made the water flow like rivers.

For the Lord is good. His loyal love endures, ¹  and he is faithful through all generations. ² 

Those who are wise ¹  store up ²  knowledge, but foolish speech ³  leads to imminent ⁴  destruction.

A foolish child is a grief ¹  to his father, and bitterness to the mother who bore him. ² 

When you enter my presence, do you actually think I want this – animals trampling on my courtyards? ¹ 

You were blameless in your behavior ¹  from the day you were created, until sin was discovered in you.

But some who were present indignantly said to one another, “Why this waste of expensive ¹  ointment?

(For he knew that the chief priests had handed him over because of envy.) ¹ 

For the instant ¹  the sound of your greeting reached my ears, ²  the baby in my womb leaped for joy. ³
