Everyone ¹  went to his own town ²  to be registered.

He went ¹  to be registered with Mary, who was promised in marriage to him, ²  and who was expecting a child.

These were the men whom Moses and Aaron numbered ¹  along with the twelve leaders of Israel, each of whom ²  was from his own family.

Everyone who crosses over to those numbered, from twenty years old and up, is to pay an offering to the Lord.
