For my flesh is true ¹  food, and my blood is true ²  drink.

Peter ¹  went out ²  and followed him; ³  he did not realize that what was happening through the angel was real, ⁴  but thought he was seeing a vision.

for you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

When Christ (who is your ¹  life) appears, then you too will be revealed in glory with him.

“With God ¹  are wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. ² 

The righteous do not encounter ¹  any harm, ²  but the wicked are filled with calamity. ³ 

All of its soldiers are strong and mighty. ¹  Their arrows will send you to your grave. ² 

Can people make their own gods? No, what they make are not gods at all.” ¹ 

“I am the true vine ¹  and my Father is the gardener. ² 

there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.

But this knowledge is not shared by all. And some, by being accustomed to idols in former times, eat this food as an idol sacrifice, and their conscience, because it is weak, is defiled.

This is my defense to those who examine me.

so then, understand ¹  that those who believe are the sons of Abraham. ² 

these are only ¹  the shadow of the things to come, but the reality ²  is Christ! ³ 

Now this ¹  is the promise that he ²  himself made to ³  us: eternal life. ⁴ 

Now this ¹  is eternal life ²  – that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, ³  whom you sent.

For we have found ¹  this man to be a troublemaker, ²  one who stirs up riots ³  among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader ⁴  of the sect of the Nazarenes. ⁵ 

With regard then to eating food sacrificed to idols, we know that “an idol in this world is nothing,” and that “there is no God but one.” ¹ 

For we are the circumcision, ¹  the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, ²  exult in Christ Jesus, and do not rely on human credentials ³ 

But the widow who is truly in need, and completely on her own, ¹  has set her hope on God and continues in her pleas and prayers night and day.
