So after they shook ¹  the dust off their feet ²  in protest against them, they went to Iconium. ³ 

Then the angel of the Lord exhorted Joshua solemnly:

When ¹  they received it, they began to complain ²  against the landowner,

Then there was a great outcry from the people and their wives against their fellow Jews. ¹ 

For I solemnly warned your ancestors to obey me. ¹  I warned them again and again, ²  ever since I delivered them out of Egypt until this very day.

Better is open ¹  rebuke than hidden ²  love.

For this reason whoever is smart ¹  keeps quiet ²  in such a time, for it is an evil ³  time.

Do everything without grumbling or arguing,
